SCR / DPF / EGR Delete

What is a SCR / DPF / EGR Delete? 

We delete everything related to the SCR, Adblue, DEF, DPF, and EGR so that you won’t have any fault codes or countdown messages on your dash that pop up when these components in the vehicle start having problems. 


Here is a list of messages that you may see on your dash:

  • No Start in XXX miles.
  • No Start in --- miles.
  • Exhaust Fluid Reserve!
  • Exhaust Fluid!
  • Exhaust Fluid Incorrect!
  • Refill Exhaust Fluid!

We suggest deleting all of the following components together (SCR, DPF, and EGR) as all of these elements work together as one system. We also recommend that you remove certain parts from the vehicle at the same time to keep the vehicle running properly and avoid any issue with those parts in the future.


Recommended Parts to be Replaced

  • DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) to be removed and replaced with a straight pipe: The DPF is a filter in the engine that filters exhaust smoke with a fine screen. This gets clogged over time preventing proper exhaust flow. Removing this component and replacing that section of the exhaust with a downpipe will ensure proper exhaust flow. 
  • EGR to be removed and EGR Kit installed: The EGR valve in the engine reduces Nitrous Oxide output by recirculating some of the exhaust gas through the valve and back into the engine. Once we delete the EGR from the ECU the valve will no longer function so it will need to be blocked off. Once this is done, no more exhaust gas will be recirculated through the engine which reduces wear on the engine in the long term.
  • DEF Diesel Exhaust Fluid: If the wrong type of DEF fluid is put into the vehicle (BMW requires a specific grade), or the fluid becomes contaminated or gets too low, the SCR system will set a warning on the dash which will have a mileage countdown. Once this countdown reaches "0 miles left" the car will no longer start. You can generally reset the counter one time and get 200 more miles but then once that runs out you will be forced to replace multiple parts. With our service you are removing the SCR so the car can start again. At this point the NOx sensors are also disabled automatically and the DEF fluid will no longer be sprayed in the exhaust. 
    • Swirl Flaps removed (optional): The swirl flaps are small butterfly valves that improve the air-fuel mixing process in the cylinder. These valves can become clogged up over time with residue and stop functioning properly. These can be removed to avoid any problems in the future. 

    Procedures:

    Every vehicle is unique when it comes to their mechanical parts so we suggest working with an experienced mechanic to remove and install any parts in your vehicle. 

    Benefits of Deleting the SCR/DPF/EGR:

    • Avoid being forced to replace expensive parts at the dealership
    • Increase engine health and life by removing EGR
    • Avoid damage to the vehicle due to overheating caused by the DPF Filter becoming clogged 
    • Avoid getting your vehicle stuck in a no start condition and having to tow it to the dealership 

    Procedures to be performed on Vehicle

    EGR Delete

    • Install a plate to block exhaust gases, preferably steel or high-temperature resistant (no aluminum). 
    • Unplug the electronic connector of the stepper motor (actuator) of the EGR.

    DPF Delete

    • This option disables completely all the controls on the DPF system and, depending on the software/vehicle, the following manufacturer DTCs

    ADBlue SCR Delete

    • Unplug the DEF (ADBLUE) module.

    Swirl Flap Delete

    • Block mechanically the intake manifold runners in the open position (either by disassembling the mechanical shaft that operates the swirls or by disassembling directly the valves of the ducts) 
    • Unplug the stepper motor from the leverage operating them mechanically but leaving the electrical connector plugged.
