After purchasing a ‘07 R52 the previous owner let the battery die completely for days before I took possession of the vehicle - when I was ready to pick it up the car would not start. Everything was working it was cranking, but no spark.

With a code reader it was determined to be P01656 causing the DME to not allow the vehicle to start.

After many attempts with myself and my backyard mechanic friend we were stumped.

Quick search found me RPM Motorsports - a quick email to confirm logistics and I made my purchase. I got my shipping label for UPS right away followed the instructions given in my email and sent my ECU off - in 2 days it was with RPM and within a day it was on its way back to me.

While in transit I got updates and instructions on what I needed to do to have the car prepared. The instructions were beyond clear.

When the ECU arrived it was packaged well and I simply plugged it in - turn the key and BOOM the car started no issue!

Product Information

This is a DME Unlocking Service (EWS Delete) for the BMW E38 750Li M73 Engine with 2 x ME5.2.1 DMEs (Bosch Number 0261204466) Years 05/1997 to 07/2001.

This is useful for removing your EWS system when having the following issues:

1. EWS 3.3 failed due to a battery boost.

2. Replaced EWS from your local Dealer and now running into problems.

3. You have Used your 10 Keys allowed by Rolls Royce and now your local dealer is asking you to replace the whole set for $$$$.

Please Note: You will need to bypass the EWS mechanically in order for the starter to engage once the EWS is deleted.
